Surfer's Healing Camp Makes a Splash in Ocean City!

Catch this awesome wave of positivity! 🌟 Surfer's Healing Camp rode into Ocean City recently, bringing mega smiles and radical vibes! 😄🤙

Kids with autism and other superpowers got to hang ten with pro surfers! 🏄‍♂️

This incredible program, founded in 1996, gives kids the chance to ride the waves alongside professional surfers. From coast to coast and even internationally, Surfer's Healing is making waves of positive change! 🌎

Mikey O'Shaughnessy is one of the cool cats hand-picked by camp founder Israel Paskowitz! 😎 He says, "This is where I find my groove! These kids and families are the real MVPs!" 🏆❤️

🌊 The Birth of Ocean City's Inlet 🏖️

It's August 23, 1933. Assateague and Ocean City are snoozing away, connected like two peas in a pod. Then Mother Nature throws a wild hurricane party! 🌪️

A powerful hurricane carved a path between S. 4th and S. 5th streets, creating a narrow 50-foot wide channel. 💨 Over the following week, this gap widened and deepened. 📏

Ocean City quickly recognized the potential of this natural gift. 💡 Local leaders sprang into action:

• Congressman Goldsborough and Senator Tydings presented the case to federal authorities 🏛️

• Just three weeks later, President Roosevelt signed off on the project ✍️

The Army Corps of Engineers took charge, planning:

• Retaining walls 🧱

• 1,800-foot stone jetties extending into the ocean 🌊

This 1934 photo captures the north jetty's construction, marking the beginning of a new era. 📸

The Inlet has since become one of Ocean City's greatest assets, reshaping its future. 🌟
