🏦🔨 Hold onto your beach hats, friends! Ocean City's getting a brand new old museum! 🎉 The historic Bank of Ocean City building is transforming into the Museum of Ocean City, and it's opening its doors this July! Christine Okerblom, the museum's curator, is buzzing with excitement. It's been a wild ride of restorations, but soon you'll get to peek inside this time capsule from 1910! 🕰️

🏗️🔍 Talk about a makeover challenge! Project Manager Joe Kurtz and his team have been scratching their heads over which era to bring back. Should they go full-on general store vibes or fancy bank chic? 🤔 They've saved as much of the original charm as possible - think creaky hardwood floors and mysterious old vaults. And get this: they even found some 1800s baby shoes hidden away! 👶👞 (Apparently, it was the vintage version of a lucky rabbit's foot!)

🖼️📚 Come January, you'll be able to dive into exhibits about diverse business owners, swanky OC hotels and restaurants, and even the local wildlife! 🐚🦀 But there's more! The second floor will house a research library where you can geek out over old photos and maps. And the best part? They're planning film screenings, workshops, and events galore! 🎬🎨 It's not just a museum, it's Ocean City's new community hub! So grab your fam and your curiosity, because history's about to get a whole lot cooler at the beach! 🌊🏖️

🏖️ Step back in time to pre-1970s Ocean City, a true seasonal resort! 🕰️ From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the town bustled with activity. But once Labor Day hit, it became so quiet you could hear a seashell drop on Baltimore Avenue. With less than 900 year-round residents, Ocean City transformed into a peaceful coastal retreat during the off-season.

📸 This 1955 aerial photo captures Ocean City in its earlier days. 🛩️ The Oceanic Motel near the Inlet is nearing completion, while the Atlantic Hotel stands prominently in the upper left. The Inlet Lodge peeks out from the far right, adding to the town's growing skyline. It's a fascinating glimpse into the city's development.

🎠 Trimper's, a beloved landmark, already showcases its beautiful 1912 !carousel and popular kiddie rides. 🐴 The Inlet Parking Lot is in its early stages, just two lanes deep along a narrower beach. While the Tidal Wave Roller Coaster is still years away, this image shows the foundations of the Ocean City we know today. It's amazing to see how much has changed!
