Something exciting is happening at White Horse Park this season, and if you're a vintage lover, a treasure hunter, or just someone who appreciates things with a little history — this one's for you! 🎉

The Ocean Pines Farmers & Artisans Market has officially launched Vintage Village — a brand new curated section of the market dedicated entirely to vintage and antique vendors! Think one-of-a-kind finds, hidden gems, and the kind of stuff you didn't know you needed until you saw it. 🪴🕰️✨

Every Saturday at White Horse Park (235 Ocean Parkway, Ocean Pines), the market runs year-round, rain or shine — because real treasure hunters don't let a little weather stop them! 🌧️💪 Hours are 8am–1pm April through Augustand 9am–12pm September through March.

 📽️ OCMD’s OG Boardwalk Motel 🏨☀️

Back in 1954, Ridge Harman, Sr. did something nobody had done before — he built the very first Boardwalk motel in Ocean City. The Sea Scape, perched at 16th Street, was a trailblazer on what would become the legendary "Motel Row" — and she wore that crown proudly for over six decades. 👑

Then came the storm. 🌪️

The Ash Wednesday Storm of 1962 — also known as the Great March Storm — was no ordinary nor'easter. It parked itself off the coast for five straight days, sending tides nearly 9.5 feet above normal and burying OC under up to four feet of floodwaters. Maryland's governor called it the worst disaster he'd ever seen. The Sea Scape took a direct hit: its swimming pool was literally ripped out of the ground and deposited across the lot onto Baltimore Avenue. 🏊 Rather than admit defeat, the motel rebuilt — and that pool stayed in its new spot for the next 54 years. Iconic energy. 💪

But the Sea Scape was so much more than a motel. 🎹

Through the '60s and '70s, it was THE place to be — think weekly smorgasbords, a lively piano bar, and good times all around. And while most Boardwalk spots shuttered after Labor Day, the Sea Scape stayed open year-round, drawing locals to its cozy Fireside Room for prime rib and broiled Maine lobster. 🦞🥩 It was also the first motel in OC to get an elevator — making it ahead of its time in more ways than one. In its later years, the basement became home to Peppers Tavern, a beloved locals' bar that kept the good vibes going long after tourists went home. 🍺

After 62 years of memories, the Sea Scape was demolished in November 2016 to make way for the Hyatt Place Ocean City/Oceanfront — a seven-story, 105-room hotel with ocean views, rooftop vibes, and all the modern amenities. Not a bad legacy for OC's original Boardwalk motel. 🌅
