Heroic Rescue at 98th Street! 🚨

Last weekend, our brave first responders jumped into action to save a 17-year-old swimmer who got caught in a dangerous rip current! 🌊

Around 7:30 pm on Saturday, September 14th, the teen had been swimming with family when he was suddenly swept out to sea. The Ocean City Fire Department, Police Department, U.S. Coast Guard, and Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police all rushed to the scene near 98th Street, using high-tech tools like night vision, thermal imaging, and drones to search for the missing swimmer. 🔍

After a challenging rescue effort in the rough surf, the fire department, beach patrol, and other first responders were finally able to bring the teen safely back to shore at 8:02 pm. 🙌 Three individuals were transported to the hospital, but thanks to the quick thinking and heroic actions of our first responders, the outcome could have been much worse.

As a reminder, now that the Ocean City Beach Patrol lifeguards are off duty for the season, it's dangerous to go in the water. 🚫 With potential storms on the way, rip currents could get even stronger. So please, play it safe and stay out of the waves until next summer! 🏖️

💫 Step back in time to 1894 with the Plimhimmon Hotel! 🏨

This iconic landmark was built by the one and only Rosalie Tilghman Shreve, occupying a whole city block along the 🌊 Boardwalk between 1st and 2nd streets.

Famous for its 🍽️ excellent dining room, guests would spend hours rocking away on the hotel's long, shady front porch, enjoying the refreshing �sea breeze. 🌬️

When they weren't relaxing on the porch, visitors could hit the 💃 dance pavilion, where a live orchestra provided endless entertainment for the summer crowds. 🎶

Sadly, the Plimhimmon met its end in a massive 🔥 fire on November 21, 1962. At the time, it was the largest hotel in all of Ocean City! 🏢

But the story doesn't end there - in 1963, the Plim Plaza 🏨 rose from the ashes, featuring a replica of the Plimhimmon's iconic Victorian-style tower! 🏰
